Home Learning #26

Manga High

  • We have never lost a Fai-To and we are not about to start now. I'll set some more challenges so you can get some more medals.
Norfolk Cycling Academy
  • Go to the airport park and ride this Sunday
  • The best coach in Norfolk will be there teaching you how to ride a bike fast
    • If you go on Sunday then you are able to enter the Tour Series in Aylsham (13th June)
      • If you are in the Tour Series you get time off school!
Outdoor Week
  • I don't know about you but I had a great time
  • Email me in 140 characters what you thought of it or something you want to share and I'll tweet it on the Dodos Twitter feed

  • Eton Scholarship Test
    • Recently, some 13 year olds sat an exam to see if they were eligible for scholarship to Eton. One of the essay questions was:
      •  You are the Prime Minister. Write the script for a speech to be broadcast to the nation in which you explain why employing the Army against violent protesters was the only option available to you and one which was both necessary and moral.

SATS Practice

  • First and foremost chill out
  • Contrary to popular belief these tests aren't actually the end of the world

Reading

  • In the reading mocks you all did exceptionally well so no need to worry
Maths
  • As I've said a million times you guys are way above national average and have proven that all year. Should be a breeze
    • Practice Test - Click Here
    • Show three people your mock papers
SPAG
  • This is the big one! It means nothing as a test; however, my friend thinks his school are going to do better than us. He doesn't know that more than half of you lot got a level 5 in the mock.

Preparation
  • The MOST important thing to do is chill out.
  • Do some exercise in the evening
  • Go to bed on time
  • Have a good breakfast in the morning
  • Don't be late in the morning

Special Week
  • BYOB day
    • Bring Your Own Builder day
      • If you have a family member that is good at building things or has some skills in wood work bring them in on Thursday (23rd May).
  • Materials
    • Spare wood to build things out of
    • Any spare building materials e.g nails, wood glue
    • Varnish, small bits of spare paint (maybe pour some into jars instead of a full tin)
    • Plastic bags - We have a sculpture planned and our artist needs a variety of coloured, plastic shopping bags to weave into a sculpture
  • Norfolk Cycling Academy
    • They are going to come in on Monday 20th. 
    • Bring a bike because they will show you how to fix it then teach you how to race like Chris Hoy
  • Trip Update
    • Lowestoft - The train times don't work out
    • Strumpshaw - They want too much money
    • Current plan
      • We'll go back to the idea of having a trek up to Braydeston hills
      • Issy and Lottie suggested a route
        • I'm not too keen on the busy road section near Blofield. 
        • Can anyone suggest any alterations?

  • Task - Build a house for the magical wood in the Jubilee broad
    • During special week we are going to create a magical environment down at the broad.
    • CLICK HERE for inspiration
    • If you can make something beforehand to bring in that would be great, if not bring in some resources to build it that week
